Headaches are the bodies why of telling you something isn’t functioning properly. Headaches commonly stem from a variety of factors that aggravate pain receptors in the head or neck. There are many reasons for a recurring headache, and often many find it easier to take a pain-relieving medications rather than address the actual “cause” or “source” of the issue. The issue with taking medication time and time again is once the medication wears off, your headaches often return, and you may then need to take more medication for the same level of relief. Furthermore, chronic use of pain relieving medications can lead to dependency and or drug-related side effects. While this approach is common, it is not necessarily the only, or best, approach.
Common causes of headaches are:
- Physical or Emotional Stress
- Neck/Shoulder Muscle tension
- Clenching Jaw/ TMJ
- Poor posture
- Poor diet
- Squinting/ eye problems
- High Blood Pressure
- Hormone Imbalances
- Prescriptions/ Supplements
- Trauma to head or cervical spine

Possible Headache causes:
Our team of Chiropractors are trained and have a special interest in cervical spine, the “atlas” and upper neck adjusting. They are proud to be apart of only a small group of Australian Chiropractors trained in the effective upper neck technique Atlas Orthogonal (AO). Atlas Orthogonal (AO) is an area of Chiropractic that focuses on the upper neck or cervical spine and its influence on the central nervous system and brainstem function. The central nervous system and brainstem are located within the upper neck vertebrae, therefore alterations to this area of the body can dramatically impact your overall health and wellbeing.
