Chiropractic Headache Treatment Melbourne

Headaches & Migraines can stop you from doing the things you love or even your ability to go to work. If you’re like many people we see, you may have tried other therapies and not found a solution that’s right for you! All of our 10+ Chiropractors have been seeing patients from all over Australia for headaches, migraines and associated problems such as neck pain, dizziness, vertigo and jaw problems.

Headaches are the bodies way of telling you that something isn’t functioning properly. Headaches commonly stem from a variety of factors that aggravate pain receptors in the head or neck. There are many reasons for a recurring headache, and often people find it easier to take a pain-relieving medications rather than address the actual “cause” or “source” of the issue. The issue with long term use of medication is once the medication wears off, your headaches often return and you may then need to take more medication for the same level of relief. Furthermore, chronic use of pain relieving medications can lead to dependency and or drug-related side effects.

Common causes of headaches are:

  • Physical or Emotional Stress
  • Neck/Shoulder Muscle tension
  • Dehydration
  • Clenching Jaw/ TMJ
  • Poor posture
  • Illness/infection
  • Poor diet
  • Squinting/ eye problems
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Hormone Imbalances
  • Prescriptions/ Supplements
  • Trauma to head or cervical spine

Possible Headache causes:

Our team of Chiropractors are trained and have an interest in cervical spine, the “atlas” and upper neck adjusting. They are proud to be apart of only a small group of Australian Chiropractors trained in the effective upper neck technique Atlas Orthogonal (AO).

Atlas Orthogonal (AO) is an area of Chiropractic that focuses on the upper neck or cervical spine and its influence on the central nervous system and brain-stem function. Projections to the central nervous system and brainstem are located within the upper neck vertebrae, therefore alterations to this area of the body can impact your overall health and wellbeing.

Patients often present to our practice with a wide range of symptoms, most commonly these include:

  • Frontal & temple face pain
  • Migraines
  • Neck muscle tightness and pain
  • Jaw joint ‘grinding’
  • Vertigo & dizziness
  • Sinus pressure
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Light sensitivity
  • Abnormal posture

(X-rays may be required in certain cases of headaches to assist in diagnosis and treatment)
